WebSites 2000 Created Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Web Site To Follow Celebrities, Pros, Amateurs
PALM DESERT (Calif.) - Keep score of celebrities and amateurs playing in the 2005 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Golf Tournament on the official web site, www.bhcc.com designed by WebSites 2000, a full-service Palm Desert-based web site development company.
"Unlike many other pro-am tournaments, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic's Web site updates the 384 amateur scores daily and keeps history of previous years' scores. Pairings are updated daily to reflect last minute substitutions and the web site is the best place to print them before you go to the course," said Kate Spates, managing partner of WebSites 2000.
This year's lineup of celebrity amateurs include sports greats San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, baseball pitcher Roger Clemens, Yankees icon Yogi Berra, football star-commentator Marcus Allan, actors Samuel L. Jackson, George Lopez, Cheech Martin and entertainer Andy Williams.
The BHCC web site has been a labor of love for Spates, who coincidently was a Bob Hope Classic Girl in 1991 and 1992. The high-profile Classic Girls, who serve as ambassadors to the nationally televised tournament, have included such celebrities and entertainers Linda Carter, Debbie Reynolds, Jill St. John, Barbara Eden and Gloria Loring.

"In September 1999, together with Pat Bennett in Media Relations, we redesigned their first generation Web site and added more history, a tribute to Bob Hope, added daily tournament updates and the ability to purchase tickets online," Spates said. For their creativity, Pat Bennett along with WebSites 2000 were awarded an "Addy" by the Advertising Federation of the Desert.
"In August 2001, we updated the look with more photos and more of a "newsy" feeling keeping the front page updated with the latest goings on. We change out the photo section "headers" each year, but the design frame has stayed the same." Spates said.
Dawn Suggs, administrative director of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, praised WebSites 2000: "We feel so fortunate to have your expertise and wise counsel as we worked on the Classic Web site... you are true professionals. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship and I know the Classic is in good hands."
WebSites 2000 was started in 1996 with the acquisition of WebOriginals, an Ohio-based company. In 1999 Stacy Thetford joined the team as director of sales and operations, followed by Jan Diaz, director of Web services and Jozelle Zamora, Web production assistant. WebSites 2000 has grown to manage over 140 Web sites worldwide.
"We develop everything from very small informational sites to very elaborate business to business applications. The key to successful web sites is keeping graphics clean, fast-loading with simple navigation and always being user-friendly," Spates said.
Among its many clients, WebSites 2000 has created and managed Web sites for several local Chambers of Commerce: Palm Desert www.pdcc.org: Rancho Mirage www.ranchomirage.org; and now are designing Indian Wells' www.indianwellschamber.org first site and redesigning Palm Springs' www.pschamber.org. They recently launched new Ecommerce solutions for Marriott's Desert Springs Spa Products www.desertspringsspa.com and West Coast Turf www.westcoastturf.com.
